Lots of Updates

It's been several months since my last post and we've had a busy month!

Emily started preschool last week. She goes Tuesday and Thursday mornings. It's a great facility and she really seems to enjoy it! All of the teachers were so welcoming and made her feel right at home. Here are a few photos of her on her first day. And no, Mommy did not cry. :-)

We also had two out of town trips this month. Jeff had a conference to attend about two hours away. It happened to be held in the hometown of one of my good friends who now lives in Minneapolis and she was visiting her mom the same time we were there. So we got to see her and her family a few times. We also went to my sister and Dad's two weeks ago to see my lovely niece Haileigh perform in her school play. She is in 7th grade and is really turning into a beautiful young woman. Here's a photo of Haileigh. It's very blurry...I had a wiggly 5 month old on my lap!

Of course this weekend was Easter. We had a very chilly day with temps in the high 20's Easter morning. I'm sad that we did not get any family photos but I did get a few of the kids. The Easter Bunny brought Emily (among other things) her own rake and shovel for working in the yard. Afterewtting home from church we heard Emily go out back and I snapped a few photos of what I found. Here is a picture of Emily coloring eggs (the big scrape on her chin is from a swingset "accident" last week, the kids together and Em out working in the yard (still in her Easter dress). :-)

Lastly, after church Emily hunted Easter eggs in our front yard (no big Easter egg hunts were attended this year...I know, I'm a horrible mommy but honestly, how much candy does one three year old really need??). Anyway, I told her how many eggs there were to find. She insisted on opening each one up everytime she found one to see what was inside (most had money and a few had candy). When she had found all the eggs, she insisted there were still more to find. Here are a few photos of her hunting the eggs but my favorite is the one with her finger on her chin. She had just said, "Hmmm...where are the other eggs hiding?"

Whew! I think that's about all to report for now. However, someone is turning the BIG 6 MONTHS this week so I'm sure I'll have more photos to post later!

5 Months, Drool and A Star Is Born

Benjamin hit the big 5 month mark last week. He's getting to be such a big boy. We continue to try rice cereal every couple of days and he's still trying to get the hang of it. He'll eat a few bites fine, then start getting really mad and upset, kicking his legs, etc. That's when we stop. I know he'll get used to it eventually and I'm not rushing it. Here are a few of his 5 month photos. Notice the drool. It's nonstop, copious amounts and we have to wonder if we will be seeing a tooth soon.

Here's a brother and sister picture. Sister was not yet dressed when I took this. And yes, she is not wearing matching jammies. She changes her jammie pants frequently and usually does not have a matching set on. But I think they look so cute together. :-)

Sunday evening was the church talent show. For the last week Emily has been talking about signing, practicing her songs, and telling me, "I want to get on stage by all myself." Well, the show was over and the youth pastor asked if anyone else would like to perform. Emily got up, took her microphone she brought from home, got on stage and sang Jesus Loves Me and then another little song from a Barney movie we have here at home. She wanted me to come up on stage with her so I sat next to her, held the real microphone for her and sang quietly along with her. She did a great job and didn't want to leave the stage!! What a ham! Everyone loved her show and I think it won't be long before she has an agent and takes her act on the road. Ha! We don't have photos of her solo performance since I was on stage with her and Daddy was running the camcorder. And I don't think we can post our camcorder video to the blog so you'll just have to take my word for it how cute it was. But here is a photo of her with the group of other children singing some songs earlier in the show. Notice she had her mic with her then, too.
